Sajid Khan, The Spirit Of Physical Disability Cricket In Peshawar Region:

Blessed are the people who find true happiness in the work of others, and they are the real capital of humanity. There are people in all walks of life in Pakistan today who are happy with the success of others, although there are very few such examples in the field of sports but there are certainly, one such example is Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It can also be given to Sajid Khan who is considered to be the soul of disabled cricket in KP. From childhood to adolescence and now even in middle age, there is a connection with cricket. From the beginning of disabled cricket in Pakistan, Sajid Khan has been associated with it. The habit of promoting even in small areas and always looking for new talent has made them very popular in KP. Behind his popularity in disabled cricket are important elements like his selfless service and heartfelt affection with the cricketers which not everyone gets.

Sajid Khan, who is serving is serving on honory bases as Peshawar coordinator in the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association, also played very good cricket but his real identity came from playing cricket. He has been the manager of various cricket teams with the Pakistan Cricket Board, which is why he knew how to work at the grass root level. Because of working with the Pakistan Cricket Board, he knew that boys could play high level cricket. It is important to provide them with proper feeding facilities so that the boys can perform at their best. When the PPDCA’s eye fell on Sajid Khan regarding the Peshawar Region election, he did not disappoint the PPDCA and did more than expected, which led to the emergence of talented disabled cricketers from Peshawar. Come, who made a name not only in Pakistan but also outside Pakistan and made the country famous.

“Finding a cricketer with a physical disability was a big problem in the beginning.”Sajid Khan said remembering the past. “People used to laugh at me when I went to Peshawar and its environs to look for disabled cricketer. How can they play cricket? But I used to laugh at them and continue my search. Many times we even advertised in the newspapers that a tournament for physically Disabled cricketers was being held and that they would be disabled to participate in it. Contact us if you are interested in playing cricket. The reward for our perseverance and hard work was that in just a few months, the Peshawar team was formed which played the first National Championship in Karachi 2008.

The recently concluded ICRC Presents SAF National T20 National Physical Disability Cricket Championship featured a number of players, including many young cricketers from Peshawar. “Yes! Now times have changed.” Sajid Khan said in a happy tone. “In the beginning we were looking for players, now the disabled cricketers are looking for us. It is the constant work of PPDCA, honestly focused on its work and the belief that now the best pool of highly capable disabled cricketers has been formed not only in Peshawar region but in all regions, most of them new players. Of The main reason for this is that all the teams are treated equally by PPDCA. It is not that this style of cricket has started in Karachi then it should be given priority over other regions. The PPDCA has never allowed a sense of deprivation to arise in any region and that is its greatest virtue. (to be continued).
