Muhammad Nizam, a leading figure in Karachi’s local and National cricket circles, has been a part of the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association since its inception and only two people have planned to launch this style of cricket. Saleem Karim and Amiruddin Ansari, the leader of the journey from the introduction of this cricket to its branding, Muhammad Nizam was the third person to form this type of cricket team and then it The idea of giving was reached. These were the earlydays of 2007. After the defeat in the World Cup 2007 and the retirement of Inzamam-ul-Haq, the national team was also being restructured. PPDCA secretary Amiruddin Ansari and Mohammad Nizam had been friends for many years and both of them had a keen eye on Karachi and Pakistan cricket, which is why whenever they met Karachi and Pakistan cricket were discussed. And then when it came to forming his (Physical Disability Cricket) team, he started working as if he had been given the responsibility of forming the national team.
“I have been involved in local cricket in Karachi for many years and it was not a problem for me to form a new team, be it for any age group of boys or girls! But when Amir Bhai talked about forming a disabled cricket team, I couldn’t believe it. ” The tall Muhammad Nizam began to tell. “Actually, Amir Bhai has a very cheerful and playful nature, and I was very well aware of his temperament, so at first I considered his words as jokes and ignored them with laughter. But the next moment he repeated his point very seriously, I realized that the matter goes beyond humor, so I became serious and told Amir bhai that there could be a disabled team. Can’t be Having said that, I had no idea what line of action I had to work on and where the disabled guys who know how to play cricket would come from to form such a team. ? ”.
Before starting the search for the boys, Ameer Bhai briefed me in detail: What is our main goal in forming a Disability Cricket Team? Can’t explain why we made this team? ۔ Muhammad Nizam kept telling seriously. “Actually, our social system is such that no good deed flourishes in it, and people think that there must be some interest behind it. Mr. Saleem Karim Sahib and Amir Bhai wanted our work to be such that no one could point a finger at us. So not only in Karachi but also in Sindh and Pakistan there are numerous organizations that are serving people with disabilities and working to make them useful citizens of the society but the people associated with these organizations have their own agenda, many organizations They are becoming infamous for doing such things. In short, in such institutions their right is not reaching the rightful owners, funds coming from any source are limited to a few hands and persons with disabilities do not get the right they deserve. “
“It simply came to our notice then, because our goal was not to make money, but to get these disabled boys out of their homes and into the grounds, which even their own family members considered a burden. ” Muhammad Nizam spoke emotionally. “When we started looking for boys, we were told, ‘Hey, what is this? You guys are going to make a cricket team for the lame. How to make more than one team? We decided that the first thing we had to get out of the minds of our disabled cricketers was that they were not disabled but normal human beings. “The three of us agreed that we should not reject any player for his or her physical defects or shortcomings, whether he knows how to play or not.” ۔ (to be continued)
