The President of the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association (PPDCA), Imran Balwani, Secretary General Amiruddin Ansari, and disabled cricketers from across the country have congratulated the national cricket team and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on their impressive victory in the One-Day series against Sri Lanka.
In their joint statement, they said that defeating Sri Lanka in the ODI series after South Africa is clear evidence that the national team’s performance in One-Day International cricket is consistently improving. In the two recent series played in Pakistan, the national team showcased its full potential by whitewashing a strong opponent like Sri Lanka.
They said that credit for this success also goes to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who provided complete freedom to the selection committee, team management, and captain so they could choose the best players for every match. This is why many new faces were tested in the recent series, and senior players also seemed to be returning to form. The policy of giving Babar Azam continuous opportunities despite not being in batting form is an excellent example of PCB’s consistent decision-making and trust in its players.
They further said that the upcoming home T20 Tri-Series between Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Pakistan will prove to be an exciting event for cricket fans, as both Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe have the ability to deliver unpredictable performances in the shorter format. This tri-series will not only give young players more opportunities but also allow them to prove themselves in high-pressure international matches.
They called Sri Lanka’s decision to continue the tour despite the Rawalpindi bomb blasts a major success for Pakistan cricket. They said that Mohsin Naqvi, as Interior Minister, handled the delicate situation with great wisdom, which ensured not only the successful completion of the ODI series but also the timely scheduling of the upcoming three-nation T20 series.
They expressed hope that the national team will continue its performance with the same passion and enthusiasm in the coming days.
