The first National Disabled Cricket League was held in 2008 in Karachi and was sponsored by Magna Mall. Teams from Multan, Lahore, Hyderabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Bahawalpur, Quetta and Karachi participated in this league. You can imagine that a cricket that started just two years ago, which started with difficulties, finding disabled players is a daunting task in itself, gathering like-minded people with the same determination, enthusiasm and how difficult and patient it was to work together across the country, but the Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association not only completed the task in a very short time but also proved it by successfully organizing an 8-team league. Granted, no task in the world is difficult if you have the courage, the zeal and the determination to do something and the perfect determination. It was also commendable that the entire cost of the event was borne by the Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association Sponsored by Saleem Karim.
Let me write here that if disabled cricket did not exist in Pakistan, wheelchair cricket could not exist in Pakistan today and it would not be interesting to see whether Pakistan was the only country in the world before disabled cricket. Cricket was considered to be cricket for the disabled. This concept was proved wrong by the formation of Disabled Cricket which is the biggest achievement of Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association. Wheelchair cricket came into existence in Pakistan long after that. Since the founder of Disabled Cricket, Saleem Karim himself was a disabled cricketer, it was easy for him to understand the difficulties of other disabled cricketers and he tried his best to ensure that all the disabled cricketers in his circle called themselves normal cricketers. Understand, enjoy cricket to the fullest and show off your cricketing talents without any pressure or danger. Saleem Karim himself used to play cricket.
The second National Disabled Cricket League was successfully held in 2009, in which 12 teams participated. The standard of play of disabled cricketers in this league was also much higher than before. In the name of The same league paved the way for the formation of the Pakistan Disabled Cricket Team, which made its international debut the following year. In view of the Pakistan Cricket Association’s regular cricket activities and the preparation of the best pool of players, he was invited to visit Malaysia and Singapore, which was a great achievement for him. The Pakistan Cricket Board also recognized the Pakistan Cricket Disabled Cricket Team for the tour. The Pakistan Disabled Cricket Team played 6 matches in Malaysia and Singapore during the tour. Five of them won and one lost. During these matches, these hero cricketers of Pakistan amazed the players and fans of the host country with their gifted abilities. All their matches were against normal teams. (to be continued)
The Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association (PDCA) is responsible for the promotion and expansion of the game through its associate and affiliate members throughout the country for all the Physically Disabled Cricketers of the country and PDCA is also recognized by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) who is the governing body of cricket in Pakistan.
